Tips & Techniques for the Use of Berryman ProductsBerryman's B9 Chem DipBecause of the chemical make up of this product, which contains Methylene Chloride and Cresylic Acid, disposal must conform to the rules of your community for proper disposal of Hazardous Waste. To prolong this disposal and reduce the amount of chemical, several of our customers use the spent product as a "pre-rinse" to use before dipping into a new bucket of Chem Dip. This allows the part to soak up a little of the spent solvent, which pre-softens some of the residual material on the part. Proper storage of Chem Dip is also a very important situation. Because of the high Di-electric chemistry, some discharge "electrolysis" may result from storing directly on concrete or on a metal rack staged on concrete.Berryman's B-12 ChemtoolBerryman's B-12 Chemtool has been widely acclaimed to work in areas which have absolutely nothing to do with carburetor or choke cleaning. Many of our customers us the B-12 to clean gun parts, small metal gears, and mechanical assemblies of all types. Due to the chemical properties of this product, which include fast evaporation, no lingering residue, and no color of its own, it has been a product of choice for many to clean parts prior to painting or coating. We do not recommend this product for cleaning of rubber or plastic parts. Any non-metal cleaning needs should be tested prior to actual cleaning to check for compatibility.Berryman Fuel AdditivesLOW FUEL LEVELS CAN CAUSE PROBLEMSLeaving your gas tank near empty, night after night, and running near empty will cause excess condensation to build up, and the inside of your gas tank to possibly corrode. In addition, condensation in the fuel can lead to rough engine performance. To prevent such fuel tank problems, use any of Berryman's line of fuel additives. These products contain detergent additives that prevent rust, disperse moisture and the build up of fuel related carbon deposits. Adding a Berryman fuel additive before adding fuel to the tank assures proper mixing.Berryman Silicone SprayCAUTION: DO NOT USE SILICONE BASED PRODUCTS UNDER THE HOODSilicone of any variety will contaminate the oxygen sensor. And the amount of silicone needed to do this is minuscule. How minuscule you may ask? A well known example is: Silicone-based RTV gasket sealants. These type of sealers outgas small amounts of silicone when they cure. If you use one of these sealers on an oil pan or valve cover gasket, the silicone vapor will be sucked into the crankcase ventilation system and then into the intake manifold. As a result, the oxygen sensor, once contaminated with Silicone will be inoperative within a day or two. Likewise, do not use Silicone-based lubricants anywhere under the hood, or anywhere forward of the firewall. The following Berryman products do not contain silicone, and are safe for under the hood maintenance. When cleaning your engine; use Berryman's B-33 Engine Degreaser Part No. 1116. When cleaning fuel injected Air-Intake components, use Berryman's Air-Intake Cleaner Part 2209 or 2630. When cleaning any electronic switch or component; use Berryman's Electronic Cleaner Part No. 2206. When cleaning compressor or alternators, use Berryman's Electric Motor Cleaner Part No. 1520. When cleaning carburetor or other metal parts, use Berryman's B-12 Chemtool. For any general purpose, under the hood lubrication need, use Berryman's Total Lube Part No. 0612 or 0665.
