Hello.
I did take the time to search for an answer before asking to save everyone time.
I have a car with oil consumption issues ( do not want to do a piston soak ) and want to add 2 ounces of Berryman B12 to the oil IMMEDIATELY ( and no driving ) prior to my next oil change.
My question is this : I don’t change my own oil and drive to a dealership to get it done. My oil will be hot by the time I arrive and want to add ( in the parking lot , 15 minutes before oil change appointment time ) the B12 to my oil.
will the hot oil temperature evaporate the B12 making it worthless to put it in my oil?
if the answer is yes, do you think ( I live in Canada, it’s colder up here ) the oil would be cold enough if I arrived one hour early and then put B12 into my crankcase?
is it safe to do this every oil change?
Thanks
mark

Hi, Mark, and thanks for your interest in Berryman. Your situation is quite fine, if not ideal, since you’re in the Great White North and it’s on the chilly side! Add 1½-2 fl oz of Berryman B-12 Chemtool Fuel Injector Cleaner (part #0116) per quart of oil capacity to your COLD engine oil. If your vehicle holds 5 quarts, then add 7½-10 fl oz of B-12 Chemtool. After that, start the engine and let it idle for 10-15 minutes. Then, drive to wherever you get the oil and filter changed. While the vast majority of the B-12 Chemtool will have evaporated, the sludge and crud that it dissolved will remain in the bulk oil until the change.
