Thanks for your interest. Berryman offers two B-60 High-Mileage products, one for the gas tank and one for the crankcase. It is fairly unlikely that you will have sludge buildup and oil control ring problems in a newish vehicle. However, if you wanted to be certain that that’s not the source of the problem, you could add to your cold engine oil 1½-2 fl. oz. of Berryman B-12 CHEMTOOL FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER (part #0116) per quart of oil capacity. So if your vehicle holds 5 quarts of oil, you would add 7½-10 fl oz of part #0116 to the crankcase (where the oil goes). Just make sure the oil is cold before you start. Then turn the vehicle on and let it warm up, usually about 5-10 minutes. If the oil becomes excessively dirty, you may need to change it when you’re finished.
As for addressing fuel system problems and carbon buildup in the combustion chamber, Berryman B-60 High-Mileage FUEL SYSTEM REJUVENATOR (part #7516) is the best product to start the discussion with. 7516 will clean gum, varnish, and carbon from the fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel injectors, intake valves (in non-GDI engines), and combustion chambers. Just add the product to the gas tank to treat 15-21 gallons of gasoline.
All that said, cleaning carbon from stuck compression rings is a tall order for an in-tank additive, so if that’s your problem, you may need to address the matter differently. If stuck compression rings are the problem and 7516 cannot free them up, you might have to employ a piston soak. This is where you remove the spark plugs and introduce a cleaner into the cylinders. Berryman B-12 CHEMTOOL FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER (part #0116) is well-suited for this job and would dissolve the carbon and help free the stuck rings. After soaking the pistons, you’d need to find a method to pull the chemical back out of the cylinders.
If you would like to call us about any of the procedures mentioned above, we’d be happy to discuss them in greater detail with you. Our phone number is 800-433-1704.
