I have some heavily carbon'd up aluminum pistons. I've had them in 0996 for several hours and they're 'getting there but they've still got some caking.
Is it safe to pull them out of the cleaner, rinse them with water, dry and then re-dip? Or would this be a bad idea? I understand it's not ideal to dip for more than 4 hours but I'm curious if that's 4 hours at a time or total?

The 4-hour time limit is TOTAL soak time and was chosen out of an abundance of caution as various grades and surface treatments will interact with the cleaner differently. In the laboratory testing we’ve performed, we have never seen a reaction in less than 10 hours, but that doesn’t mean it cannot happen under certain circumstances.
