i am burning a lot of oil in my car. i believe the issue is from stuck cylinder oil rings and clogged cylinder oil drain ports because of oil and carbon build up. i'd like to remove the spark plugs and pour Chem-Dip into the top of the cylinders. Soaking the rings for 2 hours. I'd then removed the Chem-Dip almost entirely with a small vacuum and tube attachment. I can reapply for 2 more hours 2 or 3 more times. advisable? i can't imagine it will harm the cylinder or walls. if a little is left in there will it burn off safely? thank you

Neither of the Berryman Chem-Dip products (0905 and 0996) are suitable for a cylinder soak because of the lack of combustibility and their incompatibility with motor oil. However, Berryman B-12 Chemtool Fuel System Cleaner (part #0116) is ideal for your application and you’re on the right track with your methodology. To use 0116 for a cylinder soak, pull the plugs, put 0116 in each cylinder, let the product soak for 30 minutes to 2 hours, and then remove the mixture from each cylinder. Repeat as necessary.
Because of the orientation of your motor (V-configuration), it will take nearly a full bottle of 0116 per cylinder to ensure that you cover the entire compression ring, especially if the ring is stuck and allows some of the chemical to migrate toward or into the crankcase. However, if you don’t mind soaking one side at a time, you can jack up the car from one side to flatten that bank of cylinders and thereby cut the amount of product required by a fair amount. You can also buy Berryman B-12 Chemtool Fuel System Cleaner in a 1-gallon size. That part number is 0101. Best of luck!
