I have a motorcycle fuel tank and the cap is stuck, apparently varnished in place by old fuel. Can I use the carburetor cleaner in the tank without harming the rust preventing tank coating inside?

Instead, try Berryman B-12 CHEMTOOL FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER (part #0116) or B-12 CHEMTOOL CARB, CHOKE & THROTTLE BODY CLEANER (part #0117) to remove varnish. Once the cap is loose, you should probably run a premium detergent-based fuel additive like Berryman B-60 High-Mileage Fuel System Rejuvenator (part #7516) to thoroughly clean up the fuel lines, carburetor, intake valves, and combustion chambers.
